Our authentic repertoire of waltzes, polkas, marches, schottisches, landlers, and ballads provides happy music for just about any occasion.
Kantorei Choir
Kantorei (www.kantorei.net) is entering its nineteenth season in 2006-2007. In its years of existence, Kantorei's identity has developed into a high quality a cappella choral ensemble of 40 mixed voices. The singers are experienced choral musicians from the greater metropolitan area, and represent a variety of professions, including many music educators. Kantorei strives to perform works outside of the mainstream, focusing on seldom-heard 19th- and 20th -century European compositions. Collaborations with the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Sinfonia, Amadeus Chamber Symphony and local brass and string ensembles have provided additional musical experiences for members. The repertoire has provided artistic challenges and experiences to its singers and audiences. In addition, Kantorei has sponsored and participated in education outreach concerts for urban, suburban, and out-state high school, church, and youth choirs. An integral part of Kantorei's focus is attention to vocal health and efficiency.
Kantorei was founded in 1988 by Axel Theimer and a group of alumni are from St. John's University and the College of St. Benedict. Today, Kantorei's singers are auditioned and represent a variety of collegiate choir backgrounds, joining together to enjoy a high quality chamber choir experience.
Devoted to a natural approach to singing, the Twin Cities-based chamber choir Kantorei invites audiences to share its passion for European choral music.
Elegant Music
The Torten Café, located on the fourth floor, will be a place to sit and enjoy a bit quieter and slower pace. In addition to enjoying the wonderful coffees and pastries, you will be delighted with graceful music. Please be certain to stop by.
Die Wolpertinger
The Bierstube, with its heavy wood paneling, makes the perfect backdrop for the music of Die Wolpertinger, a gifted group of Germanic Folk Musicians. Their music will add to an atmosphere conducive to conversations with good friends, the singing of folk songs and to an evening enjoying good Austrian and German beers. Come join in the good cheer!
